There is little information available on the population trends, geographical distribution, or threats to this species. However, this species is broadly distributed, appears to be relatively abundant throughout its historic range, and there are no reports of species decline. Therefore, it is currently listed as Least Concern.

Bombus transversalis is distributed from northern South America to central Bolivia (Abrahamovich et al. 2004). It exist in tropical lowland rain forest and it is found only in the Amazonian Basin (Olesen, 1989, Rasmusen, 2003). It is known from Bolivia (Cochabamba, El Beni, La Paz and Santa Cruz), Brazil (Acre, Amapa, Amazonas, Matto Grosso, Para and Rodonia), Colombia (Amazonas and Distrito Capital), Peru (Amazonas, Huanuco, Junin, Loreto, Madre de Dios, Pasco and Ucayali), Ecuador (Quito), French Guiana (Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni), Guyana, Suirname (Marowijne) and Venezuela (Bolivar) (Rasmusen 2003, Abramovich et al. 2004, and Moure and Melo 2012).
